Brief History of the High School & Football Program
Arthur P. Schalick High School
Founded: 1976 - 1977
Founder: Arthur P. Schalick
A lifelong Pittsgrove resident, Arthur P. Schalick was known as one of the driving forces in the development of the township.
A 61-year political veteran, Schalick was named township assessor and registrar in 1919, a post he retained almost until his death at age 89. He also served as welfare director and treasurer for a long period.
A board of education member from 1940 to 1980, Schalick supervised a financial plan during the mid-1970s that enabled the township to build its own high school.
In honor of his achievements, the school was named for him.
